A private higher education institution’ offering initial teacher education programmes has partnered with iStore Education in an endeavour to impact the professional development of lecturers and reshape teacher education to consider the imperatives of a digital learning environment aligned to 21st-century imperatives. Apple aims to comprehensively reframe how teacher knowledge, pedagogy, and ‘effectiveness’ is understood, valued, and practiced. There is an expansive range of services offered through and enabled by Apple Teacher – encompassing professional learning programmes. Leveraging this potential to meet the agenda to reimagine teaching and learning in the 21st century, N - 12 carefully selected lecturers received an iPad and an opportunity to attend the Apple Teacher Roadshow. This study critically gauges the adoption of Apple technologies into learning design and measures the impact of having an Apple device and the initial training provided at the Apple Teacher Roadshow. It was anticipated that this digital technology would increase motivation, garner total engagement, and create interactive participation among the lecturers in suitably designed learning activities. Data revealed low motivation levels and slow adoption due to the lack of resources, inadequate articulation of the vision, time management, and the need for ongoing training. The implementation of technology should be cognisant of the context and the needs of the participants to ensure the successful adoption of iPad technologies.
