Toponymy serves as a linguistic document that concisely encapsulates a country’s historical and natural characteristics. In Georgian studies, extensive research has been dedicated to the investigation of toponyms; however, the continuous acquisition and analysis of new data remain a pertinent academic endeavor.

Our objective is to effectively integrate significant findings related to toponymy into the curricula of general education schools (as supplementary material) and to enrich them with newly acquired data.

To this end, we have launched the project "Georgia Through Toponyms", which, in its initial phase, will encompass the following activities:
a) Introducing students to toponyms of interest and their related aspects through project-based learning methodologies.
b) Establishing a unified online platform where students can document and analyze toponyms from various regions of Georgia based on pre-designed questionnaires. This platform will include geographical locations, folk perceptions, legends, etymologies, historical sources, and contemporary realities.

The first phase of the project involves:
- The study of toponyms associated with viticulture through project-based learning approaches.
- The development of specific research skills among students.
- The formulation of recommendations for teachers regarding informal education.
- The creation of an interactive map where students can independently add toponyms and related information.

Initially, the project will be implemented in an informal education format within the framework of the Georgian Geographical Society’s weekend school for students (including 30 participants from Tbilisi and various regions of Georgia, primarily from grades VI to X).

A key component of the project is the exploration and analysis of viticulture’s impact on toponymy—highlighting the centuries-old history of grape cultivation as reflected in Georgian toponymy.

The research will address the following aspects:
1. Identification, classification, and mapping of microtoponyms associated with viticulture.
2. Compilation of a "toponymic passport" using a crowdsourcing approach, aimed at identifying the motivations behind place names and their typological classification.
3. The significance of viticulture as a prominent cultural element in human history.
4. Georgia as the homeland of grapes and wine—historical, folkloric-ethnological, and linguistic perspectives.
5. The study of the distribution areas of Georgia’s endemic grape varieties within a toponymic context and the examination of historical data on their cultivation.
6. The creation of an interactive map based on field research conducted by students, incorporating folk etymologies, legends, and other collected data.
7. Key findings and future research perspectives.

The integration of this platform into the educational process will allow students to actively engage in research by adding data to the interactive map, thus fostering their analytical skills. This initiative will contribute to the understanding of local cultural heritage, promote regional studies, and facilitate the development of innovative educational approaches in the digital era.
