Education has long been recognised as a gateway to social cohesion and cultural inclusivity. This paper explores the interplay between multicultural education and cultural diversity, examining how it shapes the learning environment for students at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Data collected via online surveys demonstrates that while multicultural curriculums have made strides in promoting inclusion, gaps in comprehensive representation remain problematic.
By engaging foundational works of UNESCO and Lalita (2024), this paper dissects global frameworks for fostering cultural awareness and inclusive pedagogy. Further analysis leverages the work of Okagbue et al. (2022), examining how these frameworks combat issues such as bullying stemming from a lack of diversity recognition. The findings indicate a need for improved curriculum adaptations that reflect the lived multicultural realities of students.
The paper begins with an outline of pertinent literature, followed by a presentation of the methodology used for student data collection. It culminates in recommendations for integrating rich pedagogic frameworks that prioritise cultural competence while addressing harassment rooted in cultural ignorance.
Education systems equipped for diversity promote respect, empathy, and equality. By refining multicultural inclusion practices, educators can build communities that thrive on both differences and similarities.
