Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (POLAND)
Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT), especially its Faculty of Information Technology has a long history of both being a provider of online, as well as hybrid education and of collaborating with foreign partners in the development and implementation of joint initiatives in the areas related to the use of technology in education. The present paper is a description of our latest project in this sphere.

As one of the pioneers of internet-based education in Poland, PJAIT developed and launched its proprietary e-learning platform called: Edux in 2000. In 2002 first students enrolled in the online part-time undergraduate study program in computer science. Since then the offer has been expanded to cover graduate and postgraduate study programs at the Faculty of Information Technology, taught both in Polish and English, therefore available to a wider range of nationals. The Edux platform has been updated several times and integrated with other services offered by PJAIT.

Unfortunately course completion requires coming to the Academy in person for the examination. In the case of students on the internet-based program, the on-campus session also involves doing lab classes. In order to overcome the financial and visa-related constraints for some candidates, PJAIT has been seeking trusted partners to organise some part of education in the country of students’ residence.

First joint educational projects were carried in 2009 with universities from Ukraine and Vietnam. They involved the transfer of our technology and know-how, with limited joint teaching activities involved. More details of both successes and obstacles are to be found in this paper.

In 2023 PJAIT launched a project with an Indian partner to offer those of their students who wish to obtain a PJAIT degree the option of starting the PJAIT program in India by completing courses on Edux and undergoing on-campus assessment in India. The process involves the facilities and the teaching staff of the partner university. The final year is to be taken in Poland in the full-time mode. We present the experience gained so far and future plans based on that.
