One of the biggest problems when moving around a city is the lack of information about pedestrian rights, which consequently leads to improper use of roadways. As there is poor road education, few pedestrians know how to properly use each space and respect traffic signs. There is no dissemination of information about pedestrian regulations and rights, which is why there are issues related to coexistence among different users on the road. At the same time, citizens show little interest in learning, causing problems and accidents.

The objective is to educate and raise awareness among pedestrians in an accessible, effective, and efficient manner about the rules, rights, and safety measures for safe mobility, reducing the risk of accidents.

The methodology of this project was based on documentary research on the current regulations applicable to pedestrians in Mexico City, from the Constitution to the local Traffic Regulations. The objective was to identify the rights and obligations that citizens have as pedestrians, especially in complex urban contexts like that of this city.

Based on this information, educational infographics were designed as the main dissemination tool. These presented the key aspects of the regulations in a visual and simple manner, facilitating their understanding among basic level students. The infographics included graphic elements and brief texts to capture attention and encourage learning.

The strategy was complemented with sessions led by teachers, who explained the content, resolved doubts, and promoted dialogue about the importance of respecting traffic rules as pedestrians. The activities were carried out in school environments, ensuring guided and participatory learning.

The results after the implementation of the project showed a notable increase in the knowledge that students had about their rights and duties as pedestrians. Before the sessions, many were unaware of basic aspects of the regulations, which reflects a widespread lack of dissemination in Mexico City.

Subsequently, the students showed greater interest, asked questions, and shared reflections on road safety. Active participation demonstrated that they understood the importance of their role as pedestrians and how their actions can prevent accidents. The teachers also noted a positive response, highlighting the educational value of the infographics as a support resource.

We concluded that the lack of knowledge about pedestrian regulations in Mexico City is a factor that contributes to road insecurity. This project demonstrated that, through accessible visual materials and teacher support, it is possible to raise awareness among the school population about their rights and responsibilities as pedestrians. Educating from an early age strengthens road culture and promotes a more informed citizenry. Therefore, it is recommended to continue with this type of initiatives, integrating them into the educational environment as a key strategy to improve coexistence and safety on urban roadways.
