This paper is based on the teaching innovation project ECO2: Ecosistemas de Entornos de Conocimiento Abierto (Ecosystems of Open Knowledge Environments). The project described in this communication is aimed both at the creation of Open Educational Resources (hereinafter OERs) by the participants and at improving the skills of the students as citizens committed to sustainability, through their participation in the production of this type of resources in the Climate Warriors environment. Its development is aimed at trying to improve social adherence to sustainability, promoting the circular economy through sustainable communication and open knowledge. It is a fact that citizens are becoming more aware of sustainability problems that manifest themselves in their local environment, and proximity is a determining factor that builds a different and alien vision even to one's own political ideas or social contextualisation. This concept has been developed through the construction of micro-narratives appropriate to local environments and focused especially on the creation of community with the groups of students involved, trying to improve the teaching-learning processes in this competence and promoting global participation on the basis of equal opportunities. A training initiative has also been developed, aimed at stimulating teaching innovation and digital literacy, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into subjects in the area of communication. This training offers tools and strategies to effectively communicate the principles of the circular economy, encourage the participation of all stakeholders and promote collaboration between civil society and the university environment. It also tries to connect university students with young people at other educational levels, especially those between 14 and 18 years old, in the transition towards a circular economy, to guide them in the knowledge and practice of an exercise in critical reflection in areas that affect climate change and the environment. The objectives achieved have been the optimisation of the teaching-learning processes; the creation of a community with the students, trying to make them also creators of content in the Climate Warriors initiative; and incorporating a service-learning methodology, Living Labs have been developed, aimed at fostering the interaction of students with citizens.
