Academic departments oversee and plan the programs, ensure quality instruction, and create a conducive learning and research atmosphere. It manages student progress, advising, degree requirements, curriculum, and course creation. The departments also lead governance and research. Problems arise with manual procedures, excessive paperwork, and communication difficulties that lead to data mismanagement and system inefficiency. The proposed system is a web-based program that improves communication, standardizes procedures, and centralizes information. Task automation increases productivity by freeing up employees to concentrate on their core responsibilities. By guaranteeing data integrity and fostering a more productive learning environment, the technology helps both administrators and students to carry out their regular tasks effectively. In essence, the system promises to transform how academic departments operate, making them more efficient and focused on their core educational mission. This paper is a sincere approach to developing a system called the “Academic Department Management System (ADMS).” An in-depth study has been done to come up with a novel approach that will enhance the current functionalities and increase the overall efficiency of the academic department. The main tasks and functionalities include allowing department heads to create, edit, and manage committees and academic programs. Facilitates communication between department members, committees, and stakeholders. Enables the creation of assignments and task tracking within committees. Supports inter-committee requests and file sharing. Storing data related to students, programs, committees, and events in one place. The system also creates role-based access and interfaces for Department Head, Program Director, Committee Head, and Committee Member. Departmental events and announcements can be created, viewed, and managed easily. Further, uploading and managing files associated with programs, committees, and individual tasks can be done more efficiently.
