The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has captivated users worldwide, offering unprecedented capabilities such as natural language interaction and access to vast data repositories. However, as the initial excitement wanes, many users are beginning to recognize the limitations of these systems: frequent inaccuracies and unreliable outputs. This transition—from an enthusiastic adoption phase to a period of disillusionment—necessitates a deeper understanding of AI's true potential and limitations.
At Innovatio Educatica Tertio Millennio, we have developed diverse educational resources—including blogs, social media content, courses, and conferences—to help both students and educators comprehend the inner workings of AI, its realistic applications, and the tasks it can and cannot perform effectively. Additionally, we are conducting research on the design of AI-powered virtual tutors to assist students in navigating their academic journeys.
This paper presents our approach to bridging the gap between AI misconceptions and practical knowledge in educational contexts. We discuss the methodology behind our materials, their implementation in academic environments, and the initial outcomes of our virtual tutor research. By fostering informed interaction with AI tools, we aim to empower educators and learners to harness these technologies responsibly and effectively.
