This research study aims to explore and optimize lecture room design in higher education settings with a focus on pre-service teachers enrolled in the Bachelor of Education in Intermediate phase. The study seeks to identify emerging trends and best practices that effectively support student learning and engagement by investigating the experiences and perspectives of second-year pre-service teachers. The study aims to provide valuable insights into the design elements and strategies that contribute to creating an innovative learning environment. The research utilized a qualitative approach, employing semi-structured questionnaires to gather data from a purposive sample of second-year pre-service teachers. Thematic analysis was applied to identify recurring themes and patterns within the collected data, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing lecture room design and their impact on student learning outcomes. This study contributes to the field of higher education by providing practical recommendations for lecture room design that enhances student learning experiences and promotes active engagement. Environmental comfort, accessibility and flexibility, technological integration, and social engagement are the emerging themes from the data analyzed. The findings of this research have the potential to inform higher education institutions and educational designers about the emerging trends and best practices in lecture room design, helping them create learning environments that are conducive to student success and engagement. The limitations identified were ambient noises, limited resources, and access to technology. Ultimately, the study aims to contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning practices in higher education and foster positive student experiences in lecture room settings.
