T. Suzuki
Kyushu University (JAPAN)
Internationalisation of higher education is a world trend. The Ministry of Education in Japan also encourages to internationalise demotic universities providing huge amount of fund. Selected universities receiving these funds have been trying to meet the ministry’s expectation. Our national university conducted a decade programme as one of the Super Global Universities from 2014 to 2024. The number of Japanese students who studied abroad has been increased. The number of international students also increased despite the wave of COVID. A number of international faculty members are recruited from all over the world. Courses and classes conducted in English were encouraged. Although the index to indicate the interantionalisation increased, there are several issues have been raised during this decade. Thus this paper introduces and analyses the final report of this ten-year-programme and describes the current situation and reveals issues imaged after these reforms and interventions. Then we would like to discuss about this world trend and if this action leads students improvement, and better social change.
