STUDIES IN CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY AND RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS STRATEGY SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMES

Studies in corporate responsibility and responsible business strategy support companies in achieving their sustainable development goals. Many SMEs struggle to understand corporate responsibility, sustainable development goals, and the EU's Green Deal. SMEs play an essential role in achieving these objectives due to their large number and high employment level. In the VALIOT project, studies on corporate responsibility and responsible business strategy are designed to support the personnel of SMEs in increasing their competence, deepening their understanding, and concretizing the areas of corporate responsibility and sustainable development in practical activities for the participants. In the VASTUUT project, textile and fashion industry operators examine corporate responsibility from the perspective of their industry. In both studies, participants orient themselves to corporate responsibility and the starting points of their responsible business with the help of articles, podcasts, videos, and books related to corporate responsibility, for example. Based on the information obtained through orientation materials, the company's current state is analyzed with the help of VRIO, PESTEL, and 8-field SWOT analyses, among others. Based on the results of the analyses, the participants consider key development targets and concrete measures that will be used to form a development plan to improve the company's sustainable development operations, i.e. corporate responsibility.
