Augmented Reality (AR) chatbots are an innovative leap in human-computer interaction, merging immersive AR with AI-driven natural language processing. This paper employs a systematic literature review to analyze technological frameworks, methodologies, and applications of AR chatbots. By synthesizing prior research across education, corporate operations, and early learning, the review highlights the state-of-the-art in this domain.

AR chatbots revolutionize various sectors by enhancing interaction and efficiency through immersive experiences. In education, they motivate and engage students using innovative methods like three-dimensional visualizations. For instance, biology chatbots for junior high students can employ ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction)—a motivational framework developed by John Keller—to foster effective e-learning. These chatbots ensure continuity of motivation in online learning, presenting content attractively and interactively. Similarly, AR chatbots for early childhood language learning integrate gamification and voice-driven engagement, supporting cognitive and linguistic development through immersive techniques.

In the corporate context, AR chatbots automate client interactions, reduce human intervention, and handle domain-specific queries efficiently. By creating three-dimensional visuals in real time and providing scalable conversational support, they have become indispensable tools for modern businesses.

Despite their potential, challenges persist in developing AR chatbots, including technical complexity, scalability, and accessibility. Advances in AI, particularly through large language models like ChatGPT, have enhanced conversational capabilities, enabling context-aware, adaptive, and human-like interactions across industries.

This systematic review underscores the transformative potential of AR chatbots. In education, they boost student engagement with personalized learning; in early childhood language acquisition, gamified designs promote development; and in businesses, they enhance operational efficiency. However, barriers such as technical difficulty, scalability, and user accessibility must be addressed. Progress in AI and AR integration is essential for overcoming these challenges and advancing AR chatbot capabilities.

The review also identifies research gaps, offering directions for future exploration. By addressing these challenges, AR chatbots can further revolutionize human-computer interaction, creating more engaging, efficient, and intelligent systems.
