Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and their courses should have a relevant role raising awareness students about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) created by the United Nations in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and potentiate their positive contributes [1,2,3]. Although the effective positive role of higher education curricular units in contributing to achieving sustainability goals, teaching and learning projects that involve cooperation between university, society and industry are scarce. However, some synergies can be created between all of them and drive better results. The main objective of this article is to describe the active teaching and learning practices implemented in three curricular units at the University of Aveiro in the 2023/2024 academic year, and to explain the specific contribution to the achievement of each of the SDGs by the students and the real companies involved in this project. One hundred and eighty three students from the following curricular units took part: Strategic Management (2nd year of the Marketing Degree and the Finance Degree); Marketing and Business Planning (3rd year of the Marketing Degree); and Strategic Brand Management (1st year of the Master in Marketing, the Master in Digital Marketing and Communication, and the Master in Competitiveness and Business Development). The results show that these active teaching and learning practices used, namely Project-Based Learning (PBL), have contributed positively to improving a total of 15 SDGs, with concrete suggestions and actions for society and companies. Overall, this study provides valuable clues for teachers and course directors who want to integrate sustainability objectives into teaching and learning practices.
