Engineering studies are becoming less and less attractive to young people, even though they are a priority in terms of labor market demand and the country's continued successful economic development. This paper explores the relationship between students' participation in social sustainability projects and their satisfaction with their studies in the context of engineering studies. The aim of the study is to investigate how active participation in social sustainability projects influences students' academic motivation and satisfaction with their studies. An empirical research approach was used to assess engineering students' experiences and engagement with social sustainability, involving questionnaires and interviews with engineering students and lecturers. The results showed that students who are actively involved in such projects are more likely to report higher satisfaction with their studies, better cooperation with peers and greater involvement in the academic community. The study highlights the importance of social sustainability projects not only in an environmental but also in an educational context, and proposes outcomes that can contribute to the improvement of engineering curricula and promote student engagement.
