Thinking in context and the ability to connect knowledge and solve everyday problems are inherently key skills that 21st century learners need to master. As part of the workshops focused on the integrated STEAM approach for pre-service teachers held at the Faculty of Science at the University of Ostrava, one module was dedicated to the creation of mind maps in an online environment. The entire concept of the workshops was focused on the preparation of integrated STEAM lesson with the help of ChatGPT. Students created teaching materials using the CCCTER method, which include the creation of mind maps. The concept of creating mind maps by groups of students across disciplines and departments and their comparison, the advantages and disadvantages of the chosen approach and students’ evaluation of this approach as well as examples of students’ works will be discussed. This contribution is, among other things, an example of good practice in implementing an integrated STEAM approach, which supported students' creativity, strengthened their experience with teamwork, and enriched their mindset by thinking outside the box or more precisely outside their field of study.
