Game-based learning (GBL) has been used in higher education to increase the engagement of students, as an alternative teaching and learning strategy. Lately, a lot of GBL applications have been focused on the digital setting and the relationship between the learning goals and the use of games is not always clear. This study focuses on the application of GBL in face-to-face settings, with students from three different courses: innovation & entrepreneurship course (bachelor in marketing), product and services management and development (professional master in competitiveness and business development) and international entrepreneurship and business development (professional master in competitiveness and business development). The LEGO Serious Play methodology is applied as a way to connect students and create bonds, at the end of each course, while IdeaChef is directly linked to the learning objectives and contribute to the development of a specific solution created by the students. A total of 120 students have been involved in the courses. Overall, the study provides food for thought for teachers that aim to use GBL in higher education, in classes linked to management, business or marketing.
