The Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (ESII, from its initials in Spanish) at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha has been developing a podcast, EsiiCast, from March 2024 to March 2025. The podcast is structured with 30 episodes, organized into five thematic arcs, and published biweekly. The main objective of this podcast, hosted on Spotify, is to facilitate access to relevant information for all undergraduate and master’s students at ESII. University students today belong to a generation accustomed to consuming brief information in digital format, especially in degrees such as Computer Science Engineering. The management team at ESII receives numerous questions from students of all courses, many of which could be categorized as Frequently Asked Questions and often have answers on official documents or websites.
The general format of EsiiCast features 4-to 6-minute episodes, where an interviewer asks questions to a guest, typically the most relevant university community member for the topic discussed in that episode.
According to the latest survey conducted among the 665 students of ESII, 50% of them (10% margin of error) listen to the podcast. This finding is a significant achievement, given that EsiiCast aims to serve as an organized source of information by topic. Although 50% of students regularly follow the podcast, we anticipate that more students will occasionally access specific episodes to address specific doubts about a particular situation. Most students find the podcast helpful in addressing questions or reducing uncertainties related to specific topics of their academic experience at ESII. Even among non-regular listeners, many believe it may be of interest, suggesting that they may sporadically listen to specific episodes to resolve specific questions. Therefore, EsiiCast remains a repository of useful and easily accessible information for current and future ESII students.
