ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON DIGITAL COMPETENCE AND PERSONAL HOBBIES: A STUDY IN THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

The general objective of this work is to analyze the relationship between AI, hobbies and the digital competence of students and teachers. To do this, an ad hoc questionnaire with 33 multiple response items has been used. The sample of this study consists of 244 participants, 74 teachers and 170 students from Florida Universitaria, Universidad Internacional de Valencia (VIU) and Universitat de Lleida (UDL).

Regarding the main results of the study, it is worth highlighting:
i) no significant differences were observed between teachers and students in terms of hobbies linked to AI, and in both cases hobbies unrelated to AI prevail;
ii) the students make greater use of AI tools but the teachers create a higher level of content with AI
iii) with respect to the level of global AI competence, significant differences are observed, being in the primary education stage where it is collected a higher percentage in information and data literacy, digital content creation, security, problem solving;
iv) regarding the use of AI, significant differences were observed, with the University of Lleida (UDL) being the one that uses AI the most;
v) the University of Lleida and the International University of Valencia present greater competition in the creation of digital content (p_value= 0.016) and finally, no gender differences are observed in any of the previous results.
