This paper introduces a teaching method for quantum computing, tailored for engineering students enrolled in the Master's program in Quantum Computing at the International University of La Rioja. The approach is structured to help students grasp the fundamental principles of quantum computing, even without prior exposure to quantum mechanics. The focus is on leveraging students' existing knowledge in mathematics, physics, and, most notably, computational skills gained during their engineering studies. Both theoretical and practical aspects of quantum computing are covered, including key quantum algorithms. Additionally, students learn how to operate a real quantum device. The methodology was successfully validated using the IBM Quantum platform, which offers access to real quantum systems and simulators, allowing students to apply their learning and execute the algorithms they have studied. In an era where degree programs and courses on quantum computing are becoming more prevalent, this work aims to assist not only future engineers but also those in charge of developing such educational programs.
