The purpose of this research is to design and implement an information system for the effective capture, management, and administration of research activities conducted at the University of La Guajira. This system aims to improve the organization and management of research information through the participation and harmonious collaboration of academic and administrative entities within the university in their various roles and functions. The proposed information system, named SIGINV (Information System for Research Management), is designed to optimize the coordination and data flow among the various stakeholders involved in research within the university. This includes faculty researchers, student members of research groups, young researchers, members of the research committees of the different faculties, as well as the staff of the Research Directorate and the Vice-Rectory of Research and Extension. The research is classified as projective, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and field design. This means it focuses on the development and evaluation of a specific project without manipulating variables, collecting data at a particular point in time and in a real-world setting. The methodology employed included analyzing the needs and requirements of the users, identifying the main functions and research processes within the university, and designing a system that meets these needs. The study encompassed a wide range of participants, ensuring that the perspectives and requirements of all those involved in the research process were considered. This allowed for the development of a system that not only facilitates data management but also promotes a culture of collaboration and efficiency in academic research. As a result of this research, the SIGINV system was implemented, significantly contributing to the strengthening and consolidation of research at the University of La Guajira. The system allows for better coordination among the different stakeholders, facilitates access to relevant and up-to-date information, and improves decision-making related to research management. Additionally, SIGINV provides tools for monitoring and evaluating research projects, thereby supporting the growth and development of the university's research community.
