One of the fundamental and comprehensive education and training renewal projects in Vietnam is the renewal of the general education curriculum, leading to the birth of the Vietnam General Education Curriculum 2018 (VGEC 2018). In VGEC 2018, in addition to academic subjects, educational activities (previously referred to as extracurricular activities in the old program) are included. Therefore, educational activities in general, and particularly career orientation experience activities for high school students, are an integral part of the curriculum. Furthermore, implementing such activities poses an innovation challenge for schools and localities in Vietnam at present. While many studies have focused on educational activities and their management from various perspectives, few have approached them from the standpoint of cultural values education for students. In this study, we present the survey results and evaluation of the organisation of such activities in high schools in Hanoi. The approach to cultural values education for Vietnamese high school students in the current period is applied. The actual survey with high school teachers and interview with school and education department leaders of public shcools are implemented. The results of this research serve as the foundation for proposing management measures to enhance the overall quality of education in high schools during the implementation of VGEC 2018.
