In the 21st century a successful business leader might possess a high level of various skills (e.g., teamwork, problem-solving, analytical thinking, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, decision-making, flexibility, etc.). To nurture entrepreneurial leaders for the future it is highly recommended to employ active and interactive forms of learning. In today’s fast-evolving digital business environment, training by case method remains one of the most comprehensive and valuable techniques for developing professional skills. The case method could be applicable both at schools and in the higher education area (HEA). Meanwhile, compared to instructors at higher education institutions (HEIs), teachers have greater challenges when implementing the new tool in classrooms.

The paper provides a general overview of a case method and the “Teaching with Case Method” program implemented for instructors and teachers at Lomonosov Moscow University (Lomonosov MSU). The author provides some reflections about using cases in teaching leadership and entrepreneurship courses at Lomonosov MSU. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data collected through surveys from teachers (n=79) and university instructors (n=12). Finally, the author summarizes findings regarding the key issues and best practices of using the case method at schools and HEIs.

The study enhances the role of problem-based learning and contributes to a growing body of literature on the case method in the educational context by examining teachers’ and instructors’ experiences.
