Freedom is not Free! There are inherent costs. Military life can be a source of psychological stress for children. Multiple deployments, frequent moves, and having a parent injured or die is a reality for many children in military families.

Depression has been seen in about one in four military children; Academic problems occur in one in five; and deployment is associated with military-connected students including depression, acting out, and externalizing behaviors. Considering military-connected students' parents risk their lives to protect our freedoms, it seems worthwhile to study how we can help their students to have Social, Behavioral, Emotional, and Learning (SBEL) Balance, with the use of technology. The Researcher's challenge is to leverage technology in order to help military-connected students to become more SBEL balanced so that they can learn better, increase productivity, and have positive well-being. AI and Technological solutions that will be sought after in this study launch, must meet strong ethical and safety criteria. In partial fulfillment of her Google Innovator's year-long project for 2024/2025. The Researcher will share her current findings concerning how teachers and students are managing SBEL in their classrooms and in lives for academic success and positive well-being.
