This academic article presents insights from focus group discussions and personal life stories collected in Italy, Bulgaria, and Ireland, examining the challenges and opportunities in promoting sports inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through a cross-cultural analysis, the study explores common themes, unique perspectives, and effective strategies for enhancing access to sports programs, overcoming barriers, and leveraging the positive impact of sports. The findings highlight the importance of tailored coaching, inclusive policies, collaborative efforts, and resilience in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for athletes of all abilities. Personal life stories add a human dimension to the research, illustrating the transformative power of sports in individual lives. This research provides valuable recommendations for stakeholders aiming to improve sports accessibility and inclusivity, contributing to broader efforts in social inclusion and personal development for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
