Due to the big technological advances in recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising the world. The educational sector is facing a significant transformation, offering more opportunities than ever for personalised learning such as content development and feedback systems. In this work, the current ecosystem of AI in education is presented through a qualitative cartography analysis. We developed a visual map through an initial literature review, collaborative conceptualization sessions, iterative evaluations and stakeholder interviews. Feedback tools, content production, and learning plan building are among the major AI use cases identified. The stakeholder roles—played by businesses, government agencies, legislators, and user groups such as educators, students, and lifelong learners—are highlighted on the map. The paper enhances the existing literature by providing a detailed understanding of the AI in education landscape and offers insights for policymakers, educators, and technology developers. Based on the identified gaps and “blind spots” in the technological and scientific landscape, the paper provides recommendations for future research and practical applications.
