The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in classrooms has revolutionized educational methodologies, significantly enhancing both teaching and learning experiences. This article showcases the implementation of AI-driven tools and platforms within educational settings, with a particular focus on the "Digital Literate" project. The Digital Literate - Digital and Media Literacy for Education methodology will be presented to illustrate this new approach in education.

Digital Literate is focused on enhancing digital and media literacy among educators and students through continuous professional development initiatives. By employing a hands-on and collaborative approach, the project aims to elevate the overall educational environment by increasing proficiency in digital skills. Its primary target is to equip educators with the competencies to integrate digital literacy into school curricula and into their class materials, thereby fostering a more engaging and interactive learning experience for students.

The project designed a comprehensive professional development program for educators, which includes a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), live workshops, and support for educators to create Learning Unit Plans (LUPs). The LUPs integrate digital and media literacy into various subjects, promoting the development of critical thinking and digital skills among students. Educators are trained in innovative teaching methodologies such as flipped classrooms, inquiry-based learning, and peer-to-peer assessment, all of which are further enhanced by AI applications.

During the pilot phase, educators will implement their LUPs to facilitate interactive and personalized learning experiences. Students will create digital outputs, such as videos and multimedia presentations, to understand and address contemporary challenges like climate change and misinformation. The project's outcomes include a Good Practice Catalogue on Digital and Media Literacy, which compiles successful LUPs and student projects, serving as a resource for educators worldwide.

The Digital Literate project not only aims to improve digital competencies but also strives to create a supportive community that values and promotes continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies. Ultimately, this initiative seeks to prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital landscape, equipping them with the skills necessary to navigate and contribute positively to society. Aligned with this enhancing digital skills and competences for digital transformation including digital and media literacy is one of the strategic priorities of the Digital Education Action Plan. By fostering collaboration among educators, students, and external stakeholders, the project ensures a sustainable and scalable approach to integrating AI into education.
