V.A. Enachescu
Our research investigates the influence of specialized disciplines on the organizational culture of professional schools, focusing on how these disciplines are integrated and their potential for enhancing overall school culture. Professional schools, such as law or medical schools, have a unique culture that shapes their educational approach and overall identity. However, the current research on organizational culture in professional schools has largely focused on the impact of general practices and values, rather than specific disciplines.
This paper aims to fill this gap by exploring how specialized disciplines within professional schools can contribute to and shape the overall organizational culture. By understanding these dynamics, school administrators can better utilize the strengths of each discipline to create a more cohesive and effective learning environment for students. This research also has implications for curriculum development and faculty recruitment, as well as the overall reputation of professional schools.
The research is conducted through a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data. A survey was distributed to students, faculty, and staff at various professional schools to gather information on the current organizational culture and the role of specialized disciplines. Additionally, interviews were conducted with key stakeholders such as department heads and faculty members to gain a deeper understanding of their perceptions and experiences with integrating specialized disciplines into the school culture.
Based on previous research on organizational culture in professional schools, it was expected that specialized disciplines play a significant role in shaping the overall school culture. The study aims to investigate the impact of specialized disciplines on organizational culture, this study used a mixed-methods approach. Additionally, quantitative data was gathered through surveys distributed to current and former students from these same professional schools. The survey questions assessed how students perceived the influence of specialized disciplines.
The research underscores the pivotal role of specialized disciplines in shaping the organizational culture of professional schools. By promoting the integration and extended utilization of these disciplines, professional schools can foster a more cohesive, engaging, and effective educational environment. The proposed strategies offer a roadmap for schools aiming to leverage specialized disciplines to build and sustain a vibrant organizational culture. Further research in this area can continue to explore the relationship between specialized disciplines and organizational culture, as well as the impact on student outcomes and overall school performance. Overall, understanding and utilizing the unique strengths of specialized disciplines is crucial for professional schools seeking to maintain a strong identity and enhance their educational approach. So, it is important for these schools to continue exploring ways to integrate specialized disciplines into their culture and utilize them for the benefit of students, faculty, and the community at large. With continued research and implementation of effective strategies, professional schools can cultivate a vibrant organizational culture that supports academic excellence and prepares future professionals for success.
