THE IMPACT OF EXTRA SPORTS LESSONS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF GENERAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS AND THEIR STRATEGIC VISION

The importance of modern sports in the sustainability and well-being of the society is being appreciated increasingly. Special emphasis is placed on children's and youth sports because in this way it is possible to influence the nation's further development. The study's authors want to emphasize the importance of sports lessons in the context of strategic development. In Latvia, there are several projects and initiatives to authors of the study used both the qualitative survey method and group interviews to understand the ongoing processes in the respective projects as deeply as possible.

The authors of the study want to understand the main benefits that both the school and the students get in connection with additional sports. In this way, strategically indicating to all Latvian schools that additional sports lessons are a recognized and meaningful process actualizes the inclusion of additional sports lessons in the daily learning process.

The research method used is an interview (qualitative survey). Interviews were conducted in a semi-structured manner with Latvian sports policymakers and school staff.

The obtained results indicate the positive aspects of the inclusion of additional sports students at different levels. Schools that include more sports lessons can improve the quality of students and their own, as well as invest in the welfare and economic development of society. In this way, the strategic development of schools is promoted, which should be changed at the national level.
