NATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR BULLYING PREVENTION IN SCHOOLS: PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN SCHOOL, PARENTS AND CHILDREN TO PREVENT BULLYING
S. Cojocaru
All domestic and international statistics show that bullying is a growing phenomenon. At the same time, there is a real danger that, in the absence of effective interventions, children and young people who bully will persist in their behavior and become offenders, and victims will acquire lifelong trauma. Current research emphasizes the importance of the school environment, the relationships and interactions between children and parents, and the school-parent partnership in preventing and reducing bullying in the school environment. As forms of prevention, HOLTIS together with UNICEF have developed a series of interventions in the school and home environment to prevent and reduce bullying. Thus, appreciative parenting sessions (which also had one theme of preventing bullying and cyber-bullying) were organized nationwide, attended by over 8,000 parents between September 2023 and June 2024. In order to strengthen bullying prevention activities, a national lesson (based on the World Largest Lesson model) was organized in May 2024, with the participation of over 80,000 students. This was possible thanks to the involvement of more than 6,500 teachers from more than 2,800 schools nationwide and the use of the qie.ro (Quality Inclusive Education) platform, which provides teachers with different teaching tools, monitors and supervises parenting programs and national activities such as the World Largest Lesson. These national activities develop models that impact on children's lives by developing a partnership between school, parents and children. The data presented shows the scale of these activities, as well as the results of quantitative and qualitative analysis and their impact on school climate and culture.
