The paper presents a set of activities that have been purposefully implemented to prevent academic failure of students of Bachelor's degree programmes in special education and social work in the combined form of study at the Faculty of Science, Humanities and Pedagogy of the Technical University of Liberec (FP TUL) in the Czech Republic. These activities emerged from the needs of the learners, which were identified through qualitative research (piloting, interview) during the winter semester of the academic year 2023/2024. It then presents preventive measures that lead learners (future helping professionals) to strengthen frustration resilience through supportive psychodynamically oriented interviews and the implementation of mental hygiene and wellbeing in profiling courses. The research also focuses on the ability to imitate coping strategies that teachers of the Department of Social Work and Special Education at FP TUL use not only in teaching and in communication with students, but also in joint volunteer activities in which they regularly educate adults with intellectual disabilities on academic grounds, as well as in regular supervision of members of the department, which is the guarantee of the mentioned study programmes. The aim of our study is to highlight a sustainable link between the professional values of the lecturers and the personal and professional priorities of the students, so that there is an anchoring of interest in the field and a meaningful imitation of support of special educators and social workers who will also be able to apply wellbeing to their professional practice.
