The age of modern computer technology sets new challenges for university faculty, while the imperative for digital literacy necessitates proficiency across all fields of study and also for developing professional competencies. This research examines the impact of information and communications technology (ICT) related elective courses on the digital competencies of non-ICT students at the TTK University of Applied Sciences (TTK). Drawing upon the European Union's "Digital Competence Framework for Citizens" (DigComp 2.2), this study quantitatively assesses the enhancement of digital skills among the participants of the courses. The study outlines the levels of ICT proficiency that students demonstrated prior and post the ICT courses.
The results indicate improvements in particular areas of digital skills, while also identifying competencies that require additional attention from educators.
The paper provides actionable recommendations for educators seeking to implement similar evaluations in their institutions, facilitating the refinement of ICT courses to address specific digital competencies effectively.
By offering a structured approach to the evaluation and enhancement of digital competencies, this research delivers insights into expected levels of digital competences of students for the ICT educators.
