A thorough review of research on integrating technology into early-years programs has yet to be undertaken. This literature review examines peer-reviewed publications from 2016 to 2024, focusing on the benefits, challenges, and effectiveness of using technology with children aged 3-5. The review identified five key benefits: developing early digital skills, enhancing social competence, fostering collaboration, improving problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and supporting overall child development. It also highlighted three main challenges: those related to teachers, administrators, and research practices. Additionally, seven primary themes for effective technology integration emerged: adopting a holistic approach, employing multimodal strategies, aligning technology with the curriculum, establishing classroom learning centers, educators modelling technology use, sustaining play through technology, and selecting appropriate technological tools. The review concludes with five recommendations for integrating technology into early childhood education, emphasizing academic research, training, teacher education, local and cultural frameworks, and policy development.
