The importance of multidisciplinary training for the development of teamwork in early childhood care centres is fundamental, since the staff who care for early childhood do not usually have educational training, in the case of health staff, or health training, in the case of educational staff. From this perspective, the cooperation project ‘Nursery classrooms in the Iberia Community: enabling infrastructure and continuing the training of professionals and families’ of the University of Valencia (20240239) has strengthened the continuous training of health personnel in early childhood care in El Salvador. This is due to the fact that the teaching staff involved in the development of the training included as the basis of the aforementioned cooperation project belong to other fields of knowledge, whose presence only enriches the future staff in charge of early childhood in El Salvador, who for different circumstances cannot access quality continuous training or under equal conditions due to economic reasons. This training was a preparation for the use of the spaces that were being set up especially for families with their children in the Don Bosco Industrial Estate, located in the Iberia Community, a ‘black spot’ in the city of San Salvador due to the high level of juvenile delinquency that has existed for decades. Although the training is in the process of being developed, it was noted that the health personnel participating in this continuous training commented on the need to improve their treatment with their patients through an artistic perspective, for example, as well as pointing out the importance of managing themselves on an emotional level in order to show a greater degree of empathy and improve their treatment with the families. The specific training of health personnel is even more expensive and, therefore, they tend to have more complications when it comes to accessing quality continuing education, which is precisely why the development of this type of cooperation project, focused on training development that will have an impact on the general good of the Salvadoran community, is so positive.
