This paper outlines the development, implementation, and evaluation of the undergraduate course Multidisciplinary Appreciation of Music within Tecnológico de Monterrey's innovative TEC21 educational model. Introduced in 2019, TEC21 integrates four core components: challenge-based learning, personalization and flexibility, inspiring professors, and memorable experiences.

Multidisciplinary Appreciation of Music is a 60-hour undergraduate general education course under TEC21. Like all TEC21 courses, its goal is to foster three types of competencies: conceptual, procedural, and attitudinal. Conceptual competencies enable students to connect music with various disciplines, spanning sciences like physics and mathematics to humanities and social sciences such as psychology, sociology, history, and economics. Procedural competencies involve applying this interdisciplinary understanding to analyze music across different styles, genres, and cultures, using diverse perspectives. Additionally, procedural competencies encourage students to create sound projects using technological tools. Attitudinal competencies aim to help students recognize the criteria underlying value judgments about music, considering social and cultural contexts.

Throughout the course, students engage in presentations, dialogues, and discussion tables, as well as listening and musical creation sessions. They attend live concerts of diverse musical styles and genres, submitting holistic reports that evaluate not only the auditory experience but also aspects like the ritualistic nature of the event. By the course's conclusion, students are expected to appreciate a wide array of music styles and cultures purposefully and from multidisciplinary viewpoints. Students' final submissions include an essay exploring the multidisciplinary nature of music and a musical piece reflecting their own musical culture, created using technological tools. All these activities aim to provide students with memorable music-related experiences shaped by their individual perspectives.

Over the semesters, student opinion surveys consistently indicate over 90% acceptance of the course. Positive student feedback underscores the course's success in fostering a critical yet inclusive attitude toward diverse musical cultures. Thus, Multidisciplinary Appreciation of Music aims to cultivate tolerance and a willingness to engage with diverse cultures, promoting a culture of inclusivity and fairness within the Tecnológico de Monterrey community, consistent with its broader vision.
