Architecture engineering and construction belong among the most dangerous industries because it presents the source of a large number of fatal accidents and injuries during hazardous construction activities. We are currently witnessing many advanced technologies supporting safety on the construction site such as artificial intelligence, construction means and robotics, digital technologies and sensing technologies. These technologies have the potential to improve the prevention through design, safety culture and awareness, safety management and computing in construction safety.

The aim of paper is to describe the creation of a new educational tool for the design of a safe construction site in a virtual environment. The created tool uses elements of immersive virtual reality and thus enables the design of a construction site in a virtual environment. The education tool represents one of the advanced technologies for increasing construction safety using digital technologies. Future construction participants (construction workers, construction managers, etc.) are enabled to increase their safety in a virtual environment through designed hazardous construction activities. The created tool is a sustainable educational tool that allows hazardous construction activities to be identified, eliminated and corrective measures proposed. At the same time, virtual reality creates an environment for creating any construction sites for modeling any hazardous risks.

Keywords: Construction site, sustainability, education tool, smart and safety, immersive virtual reality.
