IMPLICATIONS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON THE ZAMBIAN EDUCATION SECTOR: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS

This paper aims to understand the implications of digital Transformation on the Zambian education sector. The digital revolution has penetrated various domains globally, including education. We explore challenges and opportunities that are presented by the digital transformation on the Education sector. Using a mixed-method approach, the study blends qualitative interviews with key figures in Zambia's educational sector and quantitative surveys dispersed among educators, administrators, and students.

In-depth interviews were conducted with a diverse array of stakeholders, including government representatives, educators, technology providers, and students. These discussions provided insightful perspectives into the specific challenges and opportunities linked with digital transformation in Zambian education. Key themes emerged from this qualitative data, such as limited access to digital infrastructure, gaps in digital skills among educators and students, pedagogical challenges and concerns about equity. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the critical importance of digital literacy and skills development for educators and students alike in navigating the digital landscape. By illuminating the specific challenges and opportunities associated with digital transformation in Zambian education, this research offers actionable insights that can inform policy formulation, curriculum design, and resource allocation. It also underscores the necessity for collaborative endeavors among government entities, educational institutions, and technology providers to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities presented by digital transformation in Zambian education.
