Session: Origami, Art and Mathematics at School
Session time: Tuesday, 12th of November from 10:30 to 12:00
Session type: INTERACTIVE
Room: Interactive

This workshop is for those who want to live with their own skin an experience that combines art, mathematics and origami. We will work on two famous paintings from Paul Klee and Claude Monet, folding origami models to recover some parts of them and, at the same time, sketching math lessons, reproducing a real experience we had in an Italian school. In particular we will introduce three elementary origami bases, some models (waterlilies, origami box, etc) that can be folded starting from them and useful to cover the paintings. Moreover, we will give ideas to use these models to introduce or strengthen some mathematical arguments for primary, middle and high school. The session is specially appropriated for art and math teachers of any level of school that will get novel ideas they can use in their classes.

This workshop will be led by Maria Luisa Spreafico and Eulàlia Tramuns. Politecnico di Torino (Italy).
