Abstract:
Problem Statement:
This study proposes to examine the educational system of the Romanian communist period and in particular the history in school in that time.

Purpose of Study:
Our paper proposes a theoretic approach of the education during Romanian communist regime, especially of History as a school subject. In this respect, we analyzed the history textbooks which were edited in the 20th century.

Research Methods:
Our paper is based on the examination and comparison of the history school textbooks edited during the 20th century.

Findings:
Our study highlights that the school textbooks have been an important ideological tool, which was used by the politic regime to influence the social attitude, in fact to develop to students the obedient behaviour. According to that, we have emphasised some techniques used in textbooks.
This approach can be a real support of the actual theoretical and practical concerns about the manipulation in education. As a consequence, our notices can contribute to increase the social and individual responsibilities.
