TAILORING MEETS TECHNOLOGY: THE ROLE OF AI IN FASHION EDUCATION

"Mary's Tailoring" is an innovative project developed at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and advanced digital technologies. In an era dominated by technology and digitization, where consumers increasingly seek personalized experiences, the field of tailoring and fashion design is evolving rapidly, driven by the rise of e-commerce and customization trends. This paper presents the development of the "Mary's Tailoring" web application (https://licentadm.web.app/), which reimagines the tailoring and learning experience as a personalized and interactive journey.

By leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies, the application empowers customers to actively participate in the creative process, enabling them to customize garments while visualizing the product's evolution in real-time. At its core, the project celebrates the art of tailoring and craftsmanship, positioning each piece as a unique, passionately crafted work of art. Additionally, the platform integrates sustainable practices, minimizing material waste and contributing to the broader sustainability goals of the fashion industry.

Inspired by a mother’s passion for tailoring and her commitment to teaching the craft to Generation Z, this project bridges traditional skills with modern educational needs. It addresses the desires of a digitally native generation for unique, sustainable fashion while introducing an AI-powered educational framework for teaching tailoring. By fostering creativity, enabling collaboration, and promoting sustainability, "Mary's Tailoring" provides a forward-thinking model for integrating AI into tailoring education and practice. The paper explores the economic, technical, and educational dimensions of the platform, underscoring its potential to transform how tailoring is learned and experienced in the digital age.
