The Biomedical Picture of the Day (BPoD) is a website that aims to engage everyone in the wonders of biology, and its influence on medicine. Initially managed by the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, it is now run independently by a dedicated team of scientists and writers. What we present each day is a translation into Catalan of the original English website, accompanied by an attractive scientific research photo, on the website http://www.bpod.cat and on social media (Instagram and Twitter), with the aim of disseminating science in a language more appropriate to the population without scientific English knowledge.

It is a scientific dissemination platform that we are using for educational purposes since the translation is prepared by the students. For this purpose, any student from a degree related to Biology, or even other degrees such as Translation and Interpretation, can participate in this project. In fact, it is conceived as an educational innovation project at the University of Valencia, with a Service-Learning methodology, in which any student, always on a voluntary basis, handles the process of translation and publication on the website and social media. Tasks are distributed by creating teams of students for translation, translation review, and publication on the website and social media. The students are organized so that the final publication can be made punctually and correctly each day.

By providing daily updates featuring captivating images and concise summaries of the latest research, BPoD offers a unique approach to engaging with complex scientific concepts. This resource aims to foster a deeper understanding of current biomedical advancements by presenting them in a free and visually appealing format.

Through this activity, in addition to deepening the knowledge of scientific language of the students, we aim for them to become acquainted with up-to-date scientific advancements. The images and texts are related to research published in reputable journals, providing an extensive repertoire of techniques, experimental approaches and results.

BPoD's daily serves to our students as a bridge between textbook knowledge and real-world applications, illustrating how theoretical concepts are being utilized and expanded upon in contemporary research. This connection between theory and practice is crucial for students as it not only aids in the retention of information but also highlights the relevance and importance of their studies in the context of ongoing scientific progress. By staying informed about the latest developments, students can better appreciate the dynamic nature of the biomedical field and remain motivated in their academic pursuits.

Overall, BPoD translation activity represents a significant step forward in the way biomedical science is taught and learned. Its daily content not only keeps students informed about the latest research but also inspires them to actively engage with the material and pursue their own scientific inquiries, increasing their motivation and vocation. Additionally, BPoD effectively supports the educational journey of students, as they acquire competencies in teamwork, scientific English and generosity, helping to build well-prepared professionals for their future careers and making all this information accessible to everyone interested in Biomedicine.
