Session type: INTERACTIVE

This interactive workshop explores the practical and strategic considerations for developing and sustaining a virtual university. Drawing from key insights in Technology Enhanced Learning and the Virtual University (Sankey et al., 2023), this session will highlight the critical role of strategy, governance, and innovation in digital education.

We will examine:
  • The governance structures needed to support virtual learning environments
  • How to align learning theory with digital practice
  • The impact of artificial intelligence, gamification, and online pedagogies
  • Approaches to academic integrity and student engagement in digital spaces
  • The necessity of collaboration and adaptive leadership to maximize opportunities and manage risks

This session is designed for educators, administrators, and digital learning leaders seeking practical strategies and forward-thinking approaches to digital and online education. While our focus is on the virtual university, the themes we explore are relevant to all aspects of digital education and e-learning, especially as universities navigate an evolving educational landscape.
